Fuzzing and dusting in the process of carton die-cutting is a problem faced by many packaging and printing manufacturers.
When problems such as fluffing and dusting occur during the die-cutting process, the reasons should be focused on the paper quality and die-cutting process.
1.Paper quality
Generally , high-quality base paper has longer fibers and is less prone to fluffing and dust.
Merchants have higher packaging requirements for some high-end products, so packaging printing plants generally choose white cardboard, coated gold, silver cardboard, and aluminum-plated cardboard when choosing paper. These papers are divided into two types: virgin paper and recycled paper; virgin paper has good quality, longer paper fibers, and less paper lint and dust generated during die cutting. The paper fiber of recycled paper is short, and it is easy to produce paper lint and paper dust during die cutting. In particular, the fuzzing of recycled coated gold and silver cardboard is more serious, because the PVC film or PET film on its surface brings certain difficulties to the die-cutting.
At this stage, most manufacturers need to reduce packaging costs, coupled with vigorously promoting the environmental protection awareness of paper recycling, resulting in a gradual increase in the amount of recycled paper. Therefore, on the premise of choosing good printing paper as much as possible, the problem of fluffing and dusting should be solved from the die-cutting process.
2.die-cutting process
In the selection and installation of die-cutting knife, indentation line and die-cutting tape, as far as possible to avoid the problem of dust and fuzz.
2-1.die cutting knife selection principle
In terms of avoiding paper wool, a straight cutter is better than a cross cutter. The die cutting knife blade also needs special attention, if the blade is not handled properly (such as the surface has a lot of holes and defects), it is easy to cause the problem of fuzz and dust. In addition, the die cutting knife and die cutting adhesive strip supporting and installation to specification, otherwise it will also cause the problem of die cutting.
2-2.Selection principle of die-cutting tape
Die-cutting tape must have enough hardness to compress the paper, so that the die-cutting knife smoothly cut the paper, not to produce too much paper hair.
When the distance between the die-cutting knives is less than 8mm, the hardness of HS60 (solid) die-cutting tape should be selected; When more than 8mm, the hardness of HS25 or HS35 die cutting tape should be selected; When the distance between the die-cutting knife and the indentation line is less than 10mm, the hardness of the arch die-cutting tape of HS70 should be selected; More than 10mm, should choose the hardness of HS35 arch die-cutting tape. The die-cutting tape should be installed in the distance from the die-cutting knife at least 1mm position, otherwise, the die-cutting tape can only expand in the opposite direction of the knife body after compression, to both sides of the paper, in the die-cutting knife has not had time to cut the paper, the paper has been die-cutting tape pulled off, resulting in fueling, paper dust.
3-3.Location of die-cutting tape
Die-cutting tape should be higher than the blade 1.2mm or so, and depending on different hardness for appropriate adjustment. If the hardness of die cutting tape is greater than HS35, it should be less than 1.2mm higher than the blade, otherwise it should be more than 1.2mm higher than the blade.
Special instructions:
In order to solve the problem of fuzzing and dust, the die-cutting knife, indentation line and die-cutting tape must be reasonable to achieve the best results.
